Schedule & age groups 2026–27 Year

Classes follow the San José Islamic School calendar: Sundays, 10:00 AM to Dhuhr, starting September 13, 2026 and running through the award ceremony on June 6, 2027, with breaks for Thanksgiving, winter break, MLK and Presidents' Day weekends, Memorial Day, and adjusted hours during Ramadan.

During Ramadan, hours shift to 10:00 AM–Dhuhr with no snack break, except for Pre-K, Kindergarten & Grade 1.

What They'll Learn

Curriculum by grade

Our Pre-K and Kindergarten syllabi are set. Both classes cover Aqa'id (belief), Akhlaq/values, seerah (Prophet stories), and early Qur'an & Arabic — building year over year as children grow.

Pre-K

Age 4
Aqa'id

Memorization of the 1st & 2nd Kalima; a simple introduction to Islam; the five pillars; Allah is present everywhere; Allah the Creator; names of the angels and prophets; the story of the last Prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Values & Behavior

Obedience and goodness to parents, respect for teachers and elders, love for siblings and relatives, kindness to others, and love for Allah's creatures — taught through story time.

Ibadat

Names of the five daily prayers; pictures of the Ka'bah.

Qur'an

Introduction to the Arabic alphabet.

Suggested Materials

Arabic Alphabets Coloring Book (Kazi Publications); Color and Learn the Names of Prophets (Hamza); the Adam's World, Happy to Be Muslims, and Let's Pray videos from Sound Vision; Yusuf Islam's School in London nursery rhymes audio.

Kindergarten

Age 5
Qur'an & Arabic

Reading the Arabic alphabet in order and at random; Ta'awwudh and Tasmiah.

Aqa'id

Allah is the only Creator; Allah's creation; the angels; the five pillars of Islam.

Akhlaq

Memorizing the first Kalima and its meaning; the greeting of Assalaamu Alaikum and its meaning; love for Allah, parents, relatives, and all creation.

Seerah

Stories of the Prophets: Adam, Nuh, Ibrahim, Musa, and Muhammad (peace be upon him); the Ka'bah and the masjid.

Materials

Books will be supplied by the school.
